Being newly alert about health of my skin (see previous posts), and running low on my current supply of sunscreen, earlier today I emailed my dermatologist to ask for a recommendation of best brands of suncreen.
That included a note that Neutrogena will be a no-go for me, as a previous use of it resulted in a bad reaction to something in the ingredients.
I am currently using Bullfrog brand sunscreen, but will be happy to switch to the doctor's recommendation.

Always a good idea. I need to do this more. I try, but fail most of the time to remember. It's not part of my normal morning routine -- which it should be.
ReplyDeleteHard to change that muscle memory.
I am reminded to note the doctor did reply. First. if one gets bad skin reactions to regular sunscreens, she recommended brands Blue Lizard or Vanicream. But otherwise, she wrote that any brand that is at least SPF 30 and broad spectrum (covers both UV-A and UV-B) will be fine.
ReplyDeleteSo, I will just stick with the previously mentioned Bullfrog brand, which is SPF 50 and broad spectrum. But one should definitely note the intended uses; for instance Bullfrog has three varieties of sunscreen gels: One that is combined with DEET for use where mosquitoes are present, one for use in water, and one for other uses on land.
